Childhood fading

Description

As we age, we find less and less room in our lives for the things that we enjoyed as children.
The rubber duckies and ships and bathbooks lining our tubs are replaced by candles, fancy shower gels, bath salts and oils.
The dollhouse in the corner is replaced by a teetering stack of school books, or perhaps a treasure chest crammed with letters and trinkets a sweetheart has given us.
The kitchen set with its Easy Bake Oven--It really works!--has been tossed outside in favor of a desk with its computer or laptop, or maybe a shelf graced by a TV and a PS3.
The toys haphazardly lining shelves have been usurped by books and movies and music, all carefully organized by author and title and director and actor and artist.
The few survivors that remain from the innocent years--something gifted by a parent, a particularly loved toy that somehow has managed to survive the trials of being a favorite--battle one another for the right to remain in what little space has been allocated to them amid the "Adult" decorations that have been the demise of their fellows.

Yeah.... Was laying on my bed and reading. Afi did something to make noise, so I looked up to see what it was. Before I went back to reading, I noticed that the expression on the Hydra's face looked sort of shocked/in pain. Thought of King Kong battling Godzilla. Looked down and noticed the fairy, innocently smelling the flowers, with her dragon guard looking around to make sure there's no danger---only, looking in the wrong direction because who would expect to get crunched by a giant safety monkey?
Snapped the picture, then a story for it popped into my head, that has the same gist as the italics up there, but was slightly better. I just can't remember what it was. ^_^
